Arnside and Silverdale Photography Club

Arnside and Silverdale Photography Club is a small club based in the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape (until recently Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).  We recently changed our name from the Junction36 Photo Club to make our members’ locale plain.  Originally formed as the Holme and Distict Photographic Society over 40 years ago in the nearby village of Holme, the club has moved its meeting location from Holme to Burton-in-Kendal and latterly to Arnside.  We have about two dozen members and most attend most meetings.

The members vary from relative beginners with a smartphone to people who have become experts in their fields and use some of the latest “gear”.  We have members with interests in travel, street, landscape, railway and nature photography – both animals and plants.  Whatever your level you can meet people in the same place for encouragement and advice as well as some people to whose photos most of us can only aspire.

We meet regularly in the Arnside Educational Institute, about twice a month.  Almost all meetings are available on Zoom too as in addition to a well appointed meeting room the Institute has a powerful internet connection.

Meetings consist of expert talks, often with a widely known expert on Zoom, talks by members on their area of interest or expertise (usually both!) and evenings to simply see each others photographs.  Some of these are competitions with an external expert judge usually again on Zoom.

Anyone is welcome to come and look in to a meeting to see if you want to join.  Our first meeting in the Autumn and New Year are specifically for guests to come and sample us.  Join our Facebook page to see what sort of photos we take.
