Thu 19 Nov 2026 - “ Nude Iceland” Talk by Tim Pile - MFIAP, MPAGB, ARPS (AEI & Zoom)
And now for something completely different! - Tim is known for his images of the female nude, in a variety of interesting natural and manmade locations. Tim aims to produce images that include models, rather than images of models, usually with the model interacting or juxtaposing themselves with the environment. Tim creates images working in partnership with his models, and largely using natural light.

This talk steps through the evolution of photography and farming. At the birth of photography most people were involved with farming, fishing, and food production. Levels of literacy were very low and visual storytelling via many forms of art was essential to communication and education. By the early 19th century agricultural productivity, which supported the industrial revolution, had plateaued after a period of impressive improvement. Photography arrived at a time when agriculture needed to get organized and knowledge driven with the best science. Industrial documentary photography...

Thu 18 Mar 2027 - "Portrait Studio Lighting Workshop” Talk by Keith Harris (AEI only)
Keith Harris will be at the AEI to give us some top tips on shooting portraits and the lighting required. This will be an interactive evening and it would be great to have some volunteers to model. It will be a fun educational evening so please come along and support the evening.

Colin's talk will show the creative side of his photography, with many of his National and International award winning images on view.
This is a light-hearted, fast flowing talk and he will pass on some of my digital “secrets” and his enthusiasm for photography.
The talk will cover many sections including:
* Images used in the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) Diamond 3 Distinction.
* An outline of sections that can be entered in International Salons....

Thu 6 May 2027 - "100 Strangers" Talk by Steve Myall - (AEI & Zoom)
"Wanting to take on a photographic challenge, Steve decided to have a go at the 100 Strangers project. The idea is to approach people in the street that he had never met before and ask them if he could take their portrait right there and then, with the idea of photographing 100 different people. How easy would this be? Had he got the nerve to approach total strangers? How long would it take? How would people react to his request?
The talk includes lots of tips on how to approach people and how to get them to say yes to being photographed. Steve also...
